I’m Rich Scherb, Founder of Behind the Wheel.

For more than 30 years in the automotive business, I’ve worked on both sides of the desk — from retail showrooms to consulting with dealerships across the country. I’ve seen how confusing, frustrating, and one‑sided car buying, selling and servicing can feel for everyday drivers.

Behind the Wheel was built to change that.

Here, I break down dealer jargon into plain language and share what really happens behind the scenes — without the hype and without catering to hardcore car enthusiasts. The goal is simple: give you the clarity, confidence, and tools to make smarter decisions when you buy, sell, finance, or service your vehicle.
